Description: FirePott is a lightweight OpenSource Firefox plugin and extends the possibilities of GNUPott by adding a small information icon to the browser status bar while monitoring the GNUPott status. Thereby the toilet status is always visible in the browser.

It basically reads the text file created by the GNUPott software (which is located on the webserver, check out its project page if necessary) and manufactures it into a visual representation of the current toilet status. This is done with a JavaScript XMLHttp request (better known as AJAX). According to the technical characteristics of the GNUPott software the icon updates automatically every 30 seconds. Even GNUPott has an internal update frequency of 15 seconds, FirePott tries to take care of the internet bandwidht to prevent from overflowing the connection.

In case the URL of the status text file changes or should be changed, FirePott can be configured in Firefox´s preferences panel.
Installation: FirePott can be easily installed by simply dragging the XPI-file from file system into the browser window. This initiates a small installation process where it is mainly required to accept the installation of FirePott plugin. After a quick browser restart it is ready to use then.
